Digital Product Management
Is your roadmap getting you excited?
When I was working for Amazon's Digital Software and Digital Videogames team, the business challenges were manyfold: customer confusion, lack of customer trust, customer abuse, marketplace fraud, new regulations. However, the biggest challenge worldwide was the emerging trend of connected devices powered by subscription based offers and a shift in the software market towards cloud-based software-as-a-service products.

My role was to get the right things on the development roadmap to ensure long-term business growth. It was an exciting time for the team and a huge opportunity for me to grow professionally.

What is a digital product?
-
It can be a binary file containing an executable program or application for your laptop or mobile phone.
-
It can be a string of numbers and characters forming a licence key that opens access to a copy of a program.
-
It can be a subscription that unlocks the program for a given duration, determined through a contractual agreement between the buyer and the seller.
"The goal of marketing is to make selling superfluous by making products and services so well suited to customers that they sell themselves."
-
The economist and management thinker Peter Drucker, 1973.
Follow your intuition!

When you work for a large company, you soon enough realize that marketing managers are mainly consulted to sell a product, but not to help define what the product should look and feel like. After 5 years of experience in digital marketing, I decided that it was time for me to take on a new challenge and become a product manager. It was one of the best career decisions I made.
